You can bring these forms with you to your first appointment, or email them to us at reception@mbog.com.au.
Fees & Billing
Please feel free to enquire with our friendly staff about our fees for Obstetrics and Gynaecology when you book an appointment.
We have EFTPOS facilities, and we accept cash and most major credit cards.
Full payment is required at the time of your visit.
All visits to our practice are out-patient services and therefore refundable in part by Medicare only. Medicare refunds will vary depending on how your family is currently positioned relative to the Medicare Safety Net threshold.
We have facilities for online Medicare claiming if you are registered for this, which means that your Medicare rebate will be refunded automatically to your nominated bank account.
Fee Information
Obstetrics
We will accept the majority of Health Funds’ Schedule Fee, which means ‘NO GAP’ for the delivery of your baby. Please confirm with our staff which health fund you are with. There is a Private Pregnancy Management Fee (PMF) which has an associated Medicare rebate.
Gynaecology
We can provide you with a quote for any operation you require, when you come for your appointment. Private Health Funds will offer a partial rebate.
Medicare Rebates
Most services we provide attract a rebate from Medicare for your costs. Please note that the Medicare rebate is to help you cover the cost of medical care, and the amount of rebate you receive is determined by Medicare.
Medicare Safety Net
Registering for the Medicare Safety Net may be beneficial if you are Pregnant or considering a procedure that may involve a stay in hospital for a night or more. This is a Federal Government program that limits the amount of out of pocket expenses once a certain threshold has been reached in a calendar year. For more information,
view the Medicare website or register at your local Medicare office.
FAQs
Do I need a referral to see the doctor?
A referral enables claims to be made from Medicare and your Health Fund (Theatre). Referrals are valid for 12 months from a General Practitioner and 3 months from another specialist.
What should I bring with me to my first appointment?
- Referral letter from a General Practitioner or other doctor.
- Medicare card, DVA Card, Pension or Health Care Card.
- Have your Private Hospital Insurance information and card with you.
- Copies of results, X-ray’s, Ultrasounds, MRI’s, CT scans etc and any other relevant information e.g. Pap Smear result.
How often am I seen during my pregnancy?
Antenatal visits are (usually) scheduled as follows:
- First visit: 8-10 weeks gestation
- 4 weekly until 28 weeks gestation
- 2 weekly until 36 weeks gestation
- Weekly until delivery
- Postnatal visit: 6-8 weeks after delivery
Every effort is made to run to the appointment schedule however, due to the unpredictable nature of Obstetrics, there may be occasions when the doctor may be delayed or not available. Where possible you will be notified in advance. It is understood that you are also busy and appreciate your patience and understanding. If, for any reason, you are delayed or unable to keep your scheduled appointment please notify our rooms at your earliest convenience.
When do I pay for my visit?
After you have completed your consultation and examination with the doctor you will return to our reception desk where our friendly staff will make any additional appointments for you and will then take your payment.
